Took my dead-outta-nowhere 2019 MBP for service last week. Got a call that the logic board is dead but that the replacement will be free thanks to AppleCare. So worth it.

Dad ordered some AirPods Pro directly from Amazon MX and got a box of baby wipes instead. Based on the shipping box’s integrity I assume someone (intentionally or accidentally) swiped them while packing. At least he’s being refunded, but he was asked to ship back the wipes! 😅
The video UI in Apple TV+ and tvOS 15 feels worse. Everyone in the family, including myself, struggle with it.
Another year, another renewal of the Apple developer program membership. What are the chances that we’ll see MAJOR changes to the App Store policies in one more year? Not likely but enjoy screenshotting this if I’m wrong, future me.

I better finish these app updates!
Good news: adding Quick Note support is easy.
Bad news: I bumped into a bug in macOS 12 Catalyst where adding a UISwitch to a table view causes an infinite loop of… something. Was working before. Is this karma for not using AppKit? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I wish I read more these days, but Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is my favorite book of 2021 so far.
Yesterday was interesting with hurricane Grace. Wind gusts were more than I personally expected. And it’s the first time I’ve seen the cell network go down with the weather. But all things considered, we luckily made it through only with minor damage to our surroundings.
The gusts of wind have officially knocked the power out for us. This is nature’s way to tell me to stop working early.
Here comes Grace!
First time I’ve actually had to look for my house keys and found them thanks to the AirTag I attached to them. Very, very precise.

Today was my last day at Smile even though I just recently joined them. The reason? PDFpen was acquired and the team is going along with it to its new home at Nitro: www.gonitro.com/blog/2021…
Finally received the new 12” iPad Pro I preordered. The new screen is amazing, but with normal use I cannot tell if the extra horsepower from the M1 chip makes a difference yet. Maybe I need to download one of those games Apple hypes at events with their graphics.
This last week: new job, birthday, WWDC begins, and now I am officially a homeowner! Crazy!
Has Apple… Sherlocked VPNs? Doubt it, but maybe I picked a good time to get out of building VPN apps for Apple platforms 😂
Of course I also ended up buying more Apple TV remotes for my family because everyone struggled with the questionable trackpad design.
After almost 5 years (that started at StackPath), today marks my last day at J2 where I got to work on some fantastic VPN brands with an even more fantastic team.
But tomorrow I start my new position at Smile Software and I am very excited about what the future brings.
Resident Evil Village was short, but I enjoyed it greatly. The atmosphere was excellent… I felt nostalgic about RE4 on the GameCube.
I got it for the PS5 just to check out what they did with the DualSense and it did not disappoint by providing a unique feeling for each weapon.
I didn’t enable the global opt-out for tracking in iOS to see which app would be first to request it. I was honestly surprised no other app triggered it before Hearthstone just now.
Apple Pay is now available in Mexico: www.apple.com/mx/apple-…
Now the real adventure is finding a place where you can actually pay with it, like it was in its early days in the US.
Today’s App Store metadata rejection for information needed: “Please provide the location of widgets.”
Uh… the same place as any other iOS widget?
It was weird sending instructions to Apple for accessing widgets in iOS 14. Basically used the same snippet I keep for support.
I am blown away. Widgets and extensions seem to be working for iOS apps running on M1 Macs. Here’s Pinstachio’s share extension working after being summoned from Safari.
